Our Experts
South Bay Menopause Nurse Practitioner Specialists - Our menopause care team
I have been a menopause specialist for the past 35 years. I was given this gift by 2 physicians I worked for, and I have been able to give that gift to numerous women…which has brought me incredible satisfaction and joy. I weathered the controversy following the abrupt cancellation of the Women’s Health Initiative Study in 2002. The extremely misleading presentation of the ‘facts’ of that study frightened millions of women off hormones, caused most physicians to cease prescribing hormones and caused medical schools to stop educating their students about menopause. Too many women have suffered unnecessarily since that day! Thankfully, several months ago, several menopause specialists approached the FDA to request that the incorrect and negative wording re HRT be replaced with correct, up to date, and positive wording - that should have been there in the first place.
More recently I have been helping to train several NPs to carry on with this work of the intricacies of proper hormonal care. It is my hope that all women get the right information and bast of care.
I am retiring from my practice, but will never retire from my belief that women deserve and need the very best treatment for their menopausal needs. One of my favorite comments to a new patient is ‘you want to have a patch on your belly the day you die.’ Millions of cells in our bodies function better with estrogen…particularly our bones, brains, hearts and private parts.
The women in this group are active members of the Menopause Society, some of the International Menopause Society which provide training, certification, and outstanding evidence based medicine. You will be in good hands! I wish all of you reading this the very best menopause journey…you deserve it.
Best to you, Nancy Siskowic
